The Average Tourist
For this series, I selected a couple common tourist sites and then collected hundreds of photos of each from Flickr. Using a custom Photoshop script, for each site I combined these hundreds of photos into a single “average” photo, essentially a massive multiple-exposure, and then boosted contrast and saturation levels. I found it surprising that a recognizable vantage point and perspective began to appear after about 20 exposures and it only became more dominant as I added more. The most popular photographic view of each site is revealed.
